The data on this website and in the app is processed by the operator. You can find its contact details in the section “Information on the controller” in this privacy policy.
How do we collect your data?
On the one hand, your data is collected when you give it to us. This can be, for example, data you enter when you register or use the app.
Other data is collected automatically or with your consent by our IT systems when you visit the website or use the app. This is mainly technical data (e.g. web browser, operating system or time of the page view). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter the website or the app.
What do we use your data for?
Some of the data is collected to ensure that the website and the app are provided without errors. The data entered in the app is processed to provide the functions of the app. Where contracts can be concluded or initiated through the app, the data you submit is also processed for contract offers, orders or other requests for services.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request that this data be corrected or deleted. If you have given consent to data processing, you can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
You can contact us at any time about this and with any further questions on data protection.
Analysis tools and third-party tools
We do not use any analytics or tracking tools on this website or in the app. Where services of third-party providers are integrated, they are described in this privacy policy.
2. Hosting
We host the content of our website and our app with the following providers:
External hosting
The website and the app are hosted externally. The personal data collected on the website and in the app is stored on the servers of the host(s). This can include, in particular, IP addresses, contact requests, meta and communication data, contract data, contact details, names, website accesses and other data generated through a website or app.
The external hosting serves the purpose of fulfilling our contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR) and the interest in a secure, fast and efficient provision of our online offering by a professional provider (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). If consent has been requested accordingly, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR and Sec. 25 (1) TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act), insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Our hosts will only process your data to the extent necessary to fulfil their performance obligations and will follow our instructions with regard to this data.
We use the following hosts:
Netcup GmbH

Hetzner Online GmbH
Industriestr. 25

Data processing agreement
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with each of the hosts mentioned above. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that they process the personal data of our website visitors and users only according to our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
3. General information and mandatory information
Data protection
The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.
When you use this website or the app, various personal data is collected. Personal data is data that can be used to identify you personally. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this happens.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Information on the controller
The controller for data processing on this website and in the app is:
Kowada GmbH
Kleiner Ring 10
65550 Limburg
Germany
Phone: +49 6431 5687345
Email: kontakt@kowada.de
The controller is the natural or legal person who, alone or jointly with others, decides on the purposes and means of the processing of personal data (e.g. names, email addresses, etc.).
Storage period
Unless a more specific storage period has been stated within this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for the data processing no longer applies. If you assert a legitimate request for deletion or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted, unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing your personal data (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, the data will be deleted once these reasons no longer apply.
We store the data of your account in the app until you delete your account. You can delete it yourself in the app. To protect against data loss, we create encrypted backups; deleted data remains solely in these backups until they are overwritten according to a fixed rotation (for five years at most), and is not used in any other way.
General information on the legal bases for data processing on this website and in the app
If you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9 (2)(a) GDPR, if special categories of data under Art. 9 (1) GDPR are processed. In the case of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, the data processing is also based on Art. 49 (1)(a) GDPR. If you have consented to the storage of cookies or to access to information on your device (e.g. via device fingerprinting), the data processing is additionally based on Sec. 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. If your data is required for the performance of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, we process your data on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR. Furthermore, we process your data if this is necessary to fulfil a legal obligation, on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(c) GDPR. Data processing may also be carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. The legal bases that apply in each individual case are explained in the following paragraphs of this privacy policy.
Recipients of personal data
In the course of our business activities, we work with various external parties. In some cases, this also requires the transfer of personal data to these external parties. We only pass on personal data to external parties if this is necessary for the performance of a contract, if we are legally obliged to do so (e.g. passing on data to tax authorities), if we have a legitimate interest in the disclosure pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR, or if another legal basis permits the disclosure. When using processors, we only pass on our customers’ personal data on the basis of a valid data processing agreement. In the case of joint processing, a joint processing agreement is concluded.
The recipients of your data are, in particular:
- our hosts Netcup GmbH and Hetzner Online GmbH as processors,
- Paddle.com Market Limited as the independent controller for payment processing, if you book Premium,
- the other members of your flat, to the extent that the functions of the app provide for this.
Data transfers to third countries
Personal data is only transferred to a country outside the European Union in connection with payment processing by Paddle. Paddle.com Market Limited is based in the United Kingdom, for which an adequacy decision of the European Commission exists (Art. 45 GDPR). Where Paddle transfers data within the Paddle group of companies to other countries, the safeguards described in Paddle’s privacy policy apply.
Withdrawal of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent you have already given at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the withdrawal remains unaffected by the withdrawal. In the app, you can change your choice at any time via the privacy settings.
Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct advertising (Art. 21 GDPR)
If data processing is based on Art. 6 (1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process your affected personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
If your personal data is processed for direct advertising, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purpose of such advertising; this also applies to profiling insofar as it is related to such direct advertising. If you object, your personal data will subsequently no longer be used for direct advertising (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (2) GDPR).
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of infringements of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of their habitual residence, their place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.
Competent data protection supervisory authority
Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
(The Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information)
Postfach 3163
65021 Wiesbaden
Germany
Phone: +49 611 1408 0
Website: https://datenschutz.hessen.de
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done to the extent technically feasible. The app provides a data export for this purpose.
Information, correction and deletion
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing and, where applicable, a right to correction or deletion of this data. You can contact us at any time about this and with any further questions on personal data.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. You can contact us at any time for this purpose. The right to restriction of processing applies in the following cases:
- If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us, we usually need time to verify this. For the duration of the verification, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
- If the processing of your personal data was/is unlawful, you can request the restriction of data processing instead of deletion.
- If we no longer need your personal data, but you need it for the exercise, defence or establishment of legal claims, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of deletion.
- If you have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) GDPR, a balancing of your interests and ours must be carried out. As long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may – apart from being stored – only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a member state.
No automated decision-making
A decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you (Art. 22 GDPR) does not take place. The automatic distribution of chores in a flat’s cleaning plan follows the rules set by the flat and can be adjusted by its members. Profiling for advertising purposes does not take place.
SSL or TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as your login or requests that you send to us as the site operator, this site and the app use SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
Objection to promotional emails
We hereby object to the use of contact data published as part of the imprint obligation for sending promotional and informational materials that have not been expressly requested. The operators of the pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, for example through spam emails.
4. Data collection on this website and in the app
Cookies
Our websites use so-called “cookies”. Cookies are small data packets and do not cause any damage to your device. They are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (persistent cookies). Session cookies are deleted automatically after your visit. Persistent cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them yourself or your web browser deletes them automatically.
Cookies can come from us (first-party cookies) or from third-party companies (so-called third-party cookies). Third-party cookies enable the integration of certain services from third-party companies within websites (e.g. cookies for processing payment services).
Cookies have various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. logging in). Other cookies can be used to evaluate user behavior or for advertising purposes.
Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process, to provide certain functions you have requested (e.g. for logging in) or to optimize the website (e.g. cookies to measure the web audience) (necessary cookies) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR, unless another legal basis is specified. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimized provision of its services. If consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of this consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR and Sec. 25 (1) TDDDG); consent can be withdrawn at any time.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies on a case-by-case basis, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website and the app may be limited.
The website mopsicle.com does not set any cookies. The app mopsicle.app sets only the following technically necessary first-party cookies (legal basis: Sec. 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 (1)(b) and (f) GDPR):
- PHPSESSID: session identifier for the logged-in session (up to one year or until you log out),
- __Host-csrf-token_…: protection of forms against misuse (until the form is submitted),
- cc_cookie: storage of your choice regarding the external services (six months).
Consent management
The app obtains your consent to the use of external services through a consent banner (vanilla-cookieconsent, delivered from our own servers). Your choice is stored in the cookie cc_cookie in your browser; no proof is kept on our servers. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the privacy settings of the app. The legal basis is Sec. 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 (1)(c) and (f) GDPR.
Server log files
The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not combined with other data sources.
This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of its website and the app, and in their security – for this purpose, the server log files must be collected. The logs are rotated automatically and overwritten in the process.
Inquiries by email or phone
If you contact us by email or phone, your inquiry, including all resulting personal data (name, inquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request. We do not pass on this data without your consent.
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR, if your inquiry is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of the inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR) if this has been requested; consent can be withdrawn at any time.
The data you send to us via contact requests remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage or the purpose for the data storage no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular statutory retention periods – remain unaffected.
Registration and use of the app
Using the app requires an account. You log in with your email address and a one-time code that is sent to you by email. For the account we process your email address, your first name, your language setting, your time zone (determined from your browser when the account is created), your notification settings and the times of registration and logins. Accounts whose email address is not confirmed are deleted automatically after a short period.
If you create a flat or join one, we also process the details of the flat (name, rooms, chores), of the cleaning plan (assignments, swaps, absences) and of your membership. The members of a flat can see the member list and the cleaning plan; the managers of a flat also see the members’ email addresses.
The processing is carried out to perform the user contract (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR).
Email notifications
The app sends emails for logging in, for changing the email address, about events in your flat and about the cleaning plan (e.g. weekly overview, reminders, swaps and assignments). The emails are sent through the mail server of our host. You can switch off individual notifications in the app. The emails are not used for advertising. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR.
Calendar feed
On request, the app provides your chores as a calendar feed under an individual link. Anyone who knows the link can retrieve the feed. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR.
Premium, vouchers and trial periods
For Premium, vouchers and trial periods we process details of the flat, the term and the status and, in the case of a payment, the identifiers of subscription and customer assigned by Paddle. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR and, for payment receipts, additionally Art. 6 (1)(c) GDPR.
Security and error analysis
To protect the app against misuse, we briefly process IP addresses, email addresses or account identifiers in order to limit the number of certain requests. For error analysis, technical error reports without account data are sent by email to our IT. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the security and availability of the website and the app.
5. Plugins and tools
Fonts and icons (local hosting)
This website and the app use fonts and icons that are stored locally on our servers. No connection to third-party servers is made in the process.
Paddle (payment processing)
We use Paddle for the sale of Premium. As the “merchant of record”, Paddle is our contractual partner for payment processing, invoicing and taxes and processes the data required for this as an independent controller. The provider is Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom. We transmit to Paddle the data required for processing (in particular the email address and language of the paying person as well as identifiers of the account and the flat). Information on data processing by Paddle can be found at https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy.
In the app, Paddle’s checkout (Paddle Billing) is only loaded once you start signing up for a Premium subscription. In the process, data such as your IP address is transmitted to Paddle, and Paddle may access information on your device. This is technically necessary for the conclusion of the contract you have requested; the legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR and Sec. 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG.
Paddle Retain (management of failed payments, only for paying persons) is only loaded on the app’s Premium page after your consent. In the process, data such as your IP address and usage data is transmitted to Paddle, and Paddle may access information on your device. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR, Sec. 25 (1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time. The website mopsicle.com does not include any services from Paddle.
